Universal Storybook

Free-For-All Collaborative Event

2021 Yearbook Zine has been released!

☆ Welcome to the starry abyss, dear traveler! ☆

This event is available to any content creators who are interested in participating in team collaboration or individual effort.

Guidelines

  • The themes for this event are Genshin Impact and alternate universes.

  • Any alternate universe can be used, whether it be a typical modern universe, coffee shop, futuristic scenery, etc. Or it can be something unique like what if's (eg. If Liyue or Mondstadt switched places or the Travelers were born in Teyvat.)

  • The goal of this event is to allow writers, artists, video creators, and everybody else to have free reign of their creativity.

  • ''To build a world under your fingertips''' or ''To create something that has never existed before'' will be the modus operandi of this project.

Informational Timeline
(You may use it to see an organized list of tweets pertaining to the event's announcements and information.)

Rules

  • There will be an optional schedule listed involving an interest check, sign-ups, creation period, and sharing period. A prompt list will also be put together depending on the results of the interest check.

  • Writers may choose to add their works to the project's A03 collection, but this is one of many ways to share your unique impression.

  • In addition to writers, artists and other content creators can either mention @UStorybook or use the tag (#universalstorybook, #ustorybook2k21, or #ustorybook2021) for their work to be retweeted on the project's Twitter.

  • You may also include any pairing or ideas you want to add to your piece, but please make sure to adhere to any content warnings that are included in the work.

  • Your work will not be retweeted if it fails to provide the correct rating or does not use Twitter's sensitivity measure for explicit or mature content.

  • There will also be links and spreadsheets laid out to filter out works only for ''General Audiences'' (in cases where people may want to avoid seeing explicit content).

  • Do not attempt to plagiarize nor trace other people's works. Inspiration and reference is alright as long as you create using your own effort. (In other words, please do not try to dig a bigger hole for yourself with the belief that you won't be found out.)

  • There are certain rules specified in the Discord server. In the #verification channel, please read the chat rules thoroughly before selecting one of the seven elements. If you’re 18 years or older, please contact @Camiko#8430 to be given the NSFW role to access the age-locked channels.

  • And most importantly, just have fun and let your creativity and imagination run loose.

Schedule

(It is not required to follow this schedule. It is mainly provided to serve as a pacing tool for the event, but you're free to create content of your choosing at any given time.)

FAQ

  • Will there be other moderators in this project? There may be moderator applications for people who may want to help with keeping things running smoothly, answering questions, etc., but since this project is a relatively new idea, I feel it's necessary to have a general idea to keep moving forward. I had a fair share of experience from hosting contests and organizing communities in the past, so I'm alright with just being the only organizer.

  • Can you handle the workload? This event , in broader terms, can also be a self-explanatory project as well. The people who are participating in it and making sure they are following the rules makes this event what it is. Even if it may seem difficult at first, having everyone here is also helping me at the same time. Please do let me know if there's technical errors, something that needs to be fixed, or the need to clear up some confusion.

  • Do I need to do sign-ups? Sign-ups aren't mandatory, but they're mainly a way to help plan out your piece and keep things organized. But if you would like to become a beta reader (w/ a list provided), then it's important to fill out the form to be included.

  • Does my artwork or video need to tell a story? No, it won't be entirely necessary. If you have a certain alternate universe in mind, you're free to draw your ideas out with reference sheets, simple portraits, or landscape paintings. In the case of videos, animated music videos (AMVs) or skits are accepted as well.

  • Will formal pairings be made? You may choose whoever you want to work with (eg. a writer and artist wanting to work together). The process will be left flexible and a way to connect the community together, but you're welcomed to create with your individual talent as well.

  • If you have any other questions, then please use the project's CuriousCat page. And once again, thank you for your interest!

Other Tools

  • Google Docs is also another way to share your work on a different platform. For those who want to prevent the ease of copy-and-pasting by others, then you can follow these quick few steps.

  • After giving a document a name, go to the blue ''Share'' button at the upper corner of the document viewer (may appear differently on mobile).

  • Click on the ''Gear'' icon in the upper righthand corner.

  • There will be two options. Uncheck the option that says, ''Viewers and commenters can see the option to download, print, and copy.''

  • You can go into Incognito mode to preview these changes, but unless the viewer has editing rights, they won't be able to copy nor alter the text.

• When you're ready, you can change the link-sharing options to ''Anyone on the internet with this link can view.''

Moderators

  • To see the list of moderators, please click here.

  • For those volunteering for the position for the first time, it is crucial to understand the responsibilities given. This includes handling direct communication, time management, and carrying out assigned tasks.

  • Failure to perform assigned tasks may result in a pardon from duty. A message will be sent about your status, and if we don't receive a response back within a few weeks, then a confirmation letter will be sent, letting you know you have been dropped from the position.

  • Though the task comes with great stress and responsibility, please don't hesitate to send a message to me if something important or urgent has come up (through email or DM). Communication is key, and you may request for a resignation if deemed necessary.

Rating Guide

  • There are several types of ratings: General Audiences, Teen Audiences, and mature/explicit content.

  • NSFW, which stands for not safe for work, includes content that are not suitable for children, contains graphic details of blood or violence, and sexual/explicit visuals.

  • NSFW content can fall under multiple categories, such as body horror, body mutilation, excess blood, or depictions of severe violence. It also involves tags under the explicit scheme of things, which includes different types of sex, nudity, graphics of genitalia, etc.

  • Works under this topic will be sorted into a separate yearbook for a certain age group. While they are restricted to the ''above 18'' requirement, the rating may be slightly changed to only 17 and up (depending on how many works go into intense amount of detail).

  • Moderators are required to be 18 years and older to help organize these works and design the yearbook.

  • If you're unsure if a work belongs under the NSFW or general category, please read the following list: implied sexual content without in-depth scenes, crude inappropriate jokes, mild violence, and tags under the ''T'' and ''M'' rating can belong under the general category. If none of these details match exactly what's happening in your piece, then please send your question through CuriousCat, DM, or email.
